RACM - this is Robbie Macmillan, Walter’s best friend from Glasgow University. He was a Church of Scotland minister at that time at St John’s, Kensington, London. He volunteered as a Chaplain for the Seaforth Highlanders, and went with them to the Western Front. Finally, however, he felt he had to train as a combatant and he was killed with most of his Battalion on the third day of the Battle of Arras, 11 April 1917, aged 33. JB gave an eulogy at his memorial service on 21 June 1917. He is buried in Brown’s Copse Cemetery, Roeux
